CE Session Title: DEA Inspections and Red-Flag Dilemmas – What’s a Pharmacy to Do?

Session description: DEA inspections of retail pharmacies are increasingly common, especially among independents. These can be very confounding, with the DEA often seeking substantial fines. Being prepared and responding appropriately can have a big impact on how such matters turn out. In addition, pharmacies continue to face ongoing dilemmas (often a “Catch-22”) in regard to exercising their “corresponding responsibility” in dispensing controlled substances and resolving “red flags.”  Accordingly, this presentation will focus on best practices in responding to a DEA inspection as well as providing perspective regarding “red flag” dispensing.
